What are App Notifications?

App notifications are notifications that appear within the BookingKoala apps, notifying the user of a new action that was taken.

Currently, the only app we have released is the BookingKoala Provider app. When a provider is logged into the app, they will see a bell icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen. The red box on top of the bell will show the number of new app notifications.

Providers can click the bell icon to view a listing of all recent app notifications.

How Do They Work?

App notifications are displayed whenever a new action that pertains to the provider has been taken in the system.  This could include alerts that a new booking has been assigned to them, they have received a new rating, reminders regarding their upcoming appointments, and more.

When a new action that pertains to the provider has been taken, they will be notified with an in-app notification. These actions could be whenever a new booking that they are assigned to, a new rating/review from a customer, a reminder about an upcoming booking, or anything else you have enabled in the settings section.

Currently, providers can receive app notifications as only the provider app has been released.

Managing Your App Notifications

To view and modify the app notifications, please go to:

Settings > Notifications > App Notifications

All of the app notifications are placed into categories. To view the notifications options, click on the category heading or the plus sign icon to the right.

Once you click on the heading, a drop-down will appear showing all of the notifications within the category.

If a notification is green and reads "Enabled", the alert is live, active, and will notify you when that action has been taken. If the notification is red and reads "Disabled" this means that the notification is inactive and will not notify you when the action has been taken.

How to Enable/Disable App Notifications

If you wish to enable or disable an app notification, all you need to do is click on the "Enable/Disable" toggle button.

A pop-up will appear asking you to confirm the change, click "Yes" and your change will be automatically saved.

Editing App Notifications

You can customize the message your provider sees when an app notification is sent out.  To do this, click the "Edit" pencil icon.

A new window will open where you can modify the subject and message for the app notification.  Remember to click "Save" to update any changes.  You may also use the "Restore To Default" button to reset the text to the original system's message.

App notifications can also be further customized by adding shortcodes from the View Short Codes button.  To learn more about how shortcodes work, click here.
