BookingKoala has built an extensive Notifications section to help automate communications from your business. There are four types of notifications that can be enabled for your account.
- Email notifications
- SMS (text) notifications
- App notifications
- System alerts
Email notifications are included in the Starter, Growing, and Premium Subscriptions.
Email notifications are notifications that get sent out from BookingKoala to a user's email address. Whenever a certain action takes place inside BookingKoala, a corresponding email will be sent to the email address associated with the account.
Email notifications can be sent to anyone involved in the service process, including the admin, staff, providers, and customers.
SMS (Text) Notifications
SMS notifications are included in the Growing and Premium Subscriptions.
SMS notifications are notifications that get sent out from BookingKoala to a user's phone number via text message through the use of a third-party integration called Twilio. Whenever a certain action takes place inside BookingKoala, a corresponding text will be sent to the phone number associated with the account.
Currently, SMS notifications can be sent out to the admin, customers, and providers.
App notifications are included in the Growing and Premium Subscriptions.
App notifications are notifications that appear within the app, notifying the user of a new action that was taken. App notifications are displayed whenever a new action that pertains to the provider has been taken in the system. This could include alerts that a new booking has been assigned to them, they have received a new rating, reminders regarding their upcoming appointments, and more.
Only providers can receive app notifications as we have not released the apps for customers, admin, or staff yet.
System alerts are included in the Growing and Premium Subscriptions.
System alerts are notifications that display in your dashboard when a new action has been taken by either you, a customer, a provider, or the system itself. You can enable these alerts for almost any kind of activity on your platform like if a new lead fills out a form, a booking is starting soon, a job was canceled, and much more.
Only admin and staff are able to receive and view system alerts. System alerts pertain to day-to-day operations, so they are only displayed from the backend of BookingKoala when logged into an admin or staff account.
Where to Manage Your Notifications
All of your various notifications can be set up, enabled, and edited by going to:
Settings > Notifications
There are six sections listed under the "Notifications" section.
The General section is where you will set up your email and SMS settings.

The Master Templates section allows you to create custom email templates to match your business's branding.
Master templates can save you a lot of time when it comes to customizing the appearance of your emails. Once enabled, these can be applied to any other email template in the system to display custom headers, footers, and other sections.
